The brief
A slate roof on a city-centre building in Nottingham, stained with rust run-off from the plant on the flat roof above and dulled by years of grime. The building manager wanted the slates, leadwork and rooflights cleaned back without disturbing the roof covering.
We worked from the flat roof with harness lines, low-pressure washed the slates and lead flashings section by section, treated the rust staining and cleared the gutters and outlets. The rooflights and vent cowls were cleaned at the same time. Two days on site and the roof was back to an even slate grey.
